FinCoNet’s Programme of Work is undertaken through four Standing Committees. The current workstream of Standing Committee 4 (SC4) is titled From the fundamentals to the cutting edge: exploring the foundations of market conduct supervision and surveying the latest thinking and techniques. SC4’s primary output through this workstream is a webinar series, which aims to underscore the importance of market conduct supervision and explore key foundational methodologies and techniques. With a view to being relevant for a wide range of jurisdictions, the webinars aim to address, in particular, the needs of developing and emerging market conduct supervisory organisations.
Risk-based supervision, a structured process to identify risks and direct resources to the highest risk should be the foundation of a market conduct supervisory approach. By proactively identifying and classifying risks, the supervisor can develop a plan to intervene strategically and efficiently.
